What is ST.ART?
"It is very subjective and sometimes no words are needed to define it. I have been captivated with details of human flesh and objects arranged in my father's studio since early childhood. I was fortunate to grow up in my dad's atelier where I could study different techniques and read books about the old masters.
I remember that Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci had a huge impact on me then."
United Arab Emirates
I was 3 years old when I started to experiment with acrylic and oil pigments. It allowed me to escape into my imaginary worlds without perceiving "reality" for a long time, although I never painted 2 dimensional like many children do. To copy subjects in this way was self evident and I didn't question it.
I studied Philosophie and graduated with a master degree in 2011 in Vienna, Austria, at the "University of applied arts" conducted by Erwin Wurm. During this period I questioned dimensions and art itself. You can say that Van Gogh already gave me a hint.
Right after my studies the United Arab Emirates invited me to Dubai from where I was able to travel the whole world and where I am based. My paintings mainly consist of portraits and still life. Female portraits adopt an esthetic of movie images or fashion magazine photos. On the outside they seek perfection, but when you have a closer look, the inside reveals another side of them, the hidden side in each of us. An inspiration for my images are taken from Adrian Lyne Movies and several random fashion magazines. When I start to paint these women, the character starts to form behind the image during the creation itself and receives almost a dual personality, similar to the book written by Fjodor Dostojewski “the double” or “steppenwolf” written by Herman Hesse, whose character believes himself to be of two natures. Classical still lives receive a modern approach and are transformed into Arabic interpretations.
In some paintings arabic patterns are found.
"Only now I realized what it takes to be an artist, but when can you call yourself an artist?
As my journey hasn't finished yet maybe some day I will find the answer to all my questions."
